拆封还是收藏

I bought a special collector's figure last month, 我上个月买了个很特别的收藏款手办，

and it's still sitting in its box, 到现在还一直装在盒子里，

unopened, because I genuinely cannot decide what to do. 拆都没拆，因为我实在拿不定主意该怎么办。

Half of me wants to tear it open, 我一方面特想赶紧把它拆了，

display it proudly, and actually enjoy the thing I paid for. 大大方方地摆出来，好好享受我花钱买来的东西；

The other half whispers that it's worth more sealed, 但另一方面又有个声音在耳边说，原封不动的更值钱，

that I should keep it perfect and untouched. 我应该让它保持完美无瑕、碰都别碰。

And that's the strange trap of collecting. 这就是搞收藏特有的奇怪陷阱。

You can end up protecting your treasures 到头来你可能会把自己的宝贝保护得太好，

so carefully that you never actually enjoy them. 小心翼翼到你根本就没真正享受过它们。

What's the point of owning something beautiful 拥有这么美好的东西到底有什么意义，

if it lives forever in a cardboard box in a closet? 要是它只能一辈子呆在衣柜的纸箱里？

I think I've decided. 我想我决定好了。

I'm going to open it. 我要把它拆了。

A thing you love should be seen, 心爱的东西就该拿出来看，

not hidden away just in case. 而不是为了所谓的以防万一藏着掖着。

It was made to be looked at. 它被做出来，本来就是给人欣赏的。
