I've started noticing how often a phone
sits face-up on the dinner table, mine included.
It just lies there, quietly waiting, and every time it lights up,
everyone's eyes flick toward it for half a second.
Even if nobody picks it up, it's there,
a little reminder that something more interesting might be happening elsewhere.
So I've made a small new habit.
When I sit down to eat with people, 只要跟别人坐下来吃饭,
my phone goes into my bag or my pocket, out of sight.
And the conversations have genuinely changed.
People talk more, linger longer, actually finish their thoughts.
It's a tiny thing,
but putting the phone away is a quiet way of saying,
right now, you have my full attention.
And that turns out to be a rare gift.
