I've started noticing how often a phone 我开始注意到，大家总喜欢把手机

sits face-up on the dinner table, mine included. 屏幕朝上放在餐桌上，我自己也是这样。

It just lies there, quietly waiting, and every time it lights up, 它就静静地躺在那儿候着，每当屏幕一亮，

everyone's eyes flick toward it for half a second. 所有人的目光都会下意识地瞟过去半秒。

Even if nobody picks it up, it's there, 哪怕没人伸手去拿，它也摆在那儿，

a little reminder that something more interesting might be happening elsewhere. 像是在悄悄提醒：别的地方可能正发生着更有趣的事。

So I've made a small new habit. 所以我养成了个小习惯。

When I sit down to eat with people, 只要跟别人坐下来吃饭，

my phone goes into my bag or my pocket, out of sight. 我就会把手机收进包里或口袋，眼不见为净。

And the conversations have genuinely changed. 而聊天氛围真的彻底变了。

People talk more, linger longer, actually finish their thoughts. 大家聊得更多了，坐得更久了，也终于能把话说完整了。

It's a tiny thing, 这虽然只是件微不足道的小事，

but putting the phone away is a quiet way of saying, 但把手机收起来，就像是在无声地表达：

right now, you have my full attention. “此时此刻，我全神贯注都在你身上。”

And that turns out to be a rare gift. 而事实证明，这反倒成了一份难得的礼物。
