That evening, while the palace was full of music, 那天晚上，王宫里正飘荡着欢快的乐声，

the little mermaid slipped away. 小美人鱼悄悄溜走了。

She swam past the roaring whirlpools, 她游过咆哮的旋涡，

toward the one place she had always feared: 游向那个她一直惧怕的地方：

the home of the sea witch. 海巫婆的家。

Nothing grew there but gray sand and strange plants that were half animal, 那里除了灰色的沙子，什么都不长，只有一些半像植物半像动物的怪物，

with long, slimy arms that grabbed anything that passed. 它们长着长长的、黏糊糊的触手，死死抓扯着路过的一切。

Some were still clutching the bones of drowned sailors. 有的触手里还紧紧攥着溺水水手的骨头。

Her heart pounded, and she almost turned back. 她吓得心怦怦直跳，差点就转身逃跑了。

But she thought of the prince, 但一想到王子，

Inside sat the sea witch, letting a toad eat from her mouth. 海巫婆就坐在里面，任由一只癞蛤蟆从她嘴里啄食吃。

"I know exactly what you want," she said, with an ugly laugh. “我太清楚你想要什么了，”她发出一阵刺耳的笑声说道。

"It's very foolish of you. “你可真是蠢得无可救药。

But you shall have it, my pretty princess." 不过我会成全你的，我漂亮的小公主。”

Then she leaned closer, and named her price. 说完，她凑近了些，开出了自己的条件。
