Far out at sea, 在遥远的大海深处，

where the water is as blue as a cornflower and deeper than any anchor can reach, 那里的海水像矢车菊一样湛蓝，深到连船锚都探不到底，

stood the palace of the Sea King. 坐落着海王的宫殿。

Its walls were coral, its windows were amber, 宫殿的墙是珊瑚砌的，窗户是琥珀做的，

and its roof was made of shells that opened and closed with the tide. 屋顶是用贝壳铺成的，还会随着潮水涨落一开一合。

The King had six daughters, 海王有六个女儿，

and the youngest was the loveliest of all. 其中最小的那位长得最讨人喜欢。

But like every mermaid, she had no feet, only a fish's tail. 不过就像所有美人鱼一样，她没有双脚，只有一条鱼尾巴。
