The box said, "Easy setup, ten minutes." 包装盒上写着：“轻松搭建，十分钟搞定。”

We believed the box. 我们居然信了。

An hour later, the tent was still flat on the grass, 一个小时过去了，帐篷还是一摊烂泥似地趴在草地上，

and my husband and I were not speaking nicely. 我和我老公说话也开始夹枪带棒了。

I had read the instructions three times. 说明书我都看了三遍了。

"That pole goes there." “那根杆子应该插那儿。”

"It doesn't fit there." “插不进去啊。”

"Because you've got it backwards." “那是因为你拿反了。”

When we finally stood it up, there was one pole left over. 等我们终于把它支起来时，居然还多出一根杆子。

We both looked at it. 我们俩大眼瞪小眼地看着那根杆子。

Neither of us said anything. 谁也没吭声。

The sun was going down. 太阳都要落山了。

So we pushed the pegs into the ground and stepped back. 于是我们把地钉往土里一砸，往后退了几步。

It leaned to the left. 帐篷往左歪着。

One corner was lower than the others. 有一个角明显比其他角矮了一截。

But it was standing. 但好歹是立起来了。

And we had made it, together, without a divorce. 而且我们做到了，齐心协力，还没闹到离婚的地步。

That night it rained a little, and the tent held. 那天晚上下了点小雨，帐篷居然挺住了。
