I used to run on a treadmill, staring at a wall,
counting down the minutes until I could stop.
Then someone took me trail running in the hills, and everything changed.
It's harder, honestly.
There are roots to trip on, 路上随时有树根绊脚,
hills that burn your legs, and mud everywhere.
I fell twice on my first run.
But instead of watching a clock, I was watching the trees,
the light through the leaves, a stream I had to jump across.
I forgot I was even exercising.
That's the difference.
On the treadmill, running was something to get through. 在跑步机上,跑步是必须硬熬过去的任务;
On the trail, running became somewhere to be.
Now I don't force myself to go.
I actually look forward to it, mud and scraped knees and all.
