Lesson 49 The End of a Dream Tired of sleeping on the floor, 第49课 美梦的终结 睡地板睡腻了

a young man in Tehran saved up for years to buy a real bed. 德黑兰一个小伙子攒了好几年钱，终于买了张真正的床

For the first time in his life, 这辈子头一回

he became the proud owner of a bed which had springs and a mattress. 他成了这张带弹簧和床垫的床的骄傲主人

Because the weather was very hot, 因为天气太热

he carried the bed onto the roof of his house. 他把床搬到了房顶上

He slept very well for the first two nights. 头两晚他睡得可香了

But on the third night, 可到了第三晚

a storm blew up. 暴风雨来了

A gust of wind swept the bed off the roof and sent it crashing into the courtyard below. 一阵狂风把床从房顶掀翻，摔到了下面的院子里

The young man did not wake up until the bed had struck the ground. 小伙子直到床砸到地上才醒

Although the bed was smashed to pieces, 虽然床摔得稀巴烂

the man was miraculously unhurt. 人却奇迹般地毫发无伤

When he woke up, 他醒来时

he was still on the mattress. 人还躺在床垫上

glancing at the bits of wood and metal that lay around him. 瞥了一眼周围散落的木头和金属碎片

The man sadly picked up the mattress and carried it into his house. 小伙子难过地捡起床垫，搬回了屋里

After he had put it on the floor, 把床垫往地上一放

he promptly went to sleep again. 倒头又睡了过去
