Lesson 42 Not very musical 第42课 不太懂音乐

As we had had a long walk through one of the markets of Old Delhi, 我们穿过了旧德里市场的一条街，走了好一阵子

we stopped at a square to have a rest. 就在一个广场停下来歇歇脚

After a time, 过了一会儿

we noticed a snake charmer with two large baskets at the other side of the square. 我们看到广场对面有个耍蛇的，旁边放着两个大篮子

So we went to have a look at him. 于是我们凑过去看了看

As soon as he saw us, 他一看到我们

he picked up a long pipe which was covered with coins and opened one of the baskets. 就拿起一根缠满硬币的长管子，打开了一个篮子

When he began to play a tune, 等他开始吹曲子

we had our first glimpse of the snake. 我们才头一回瞧见那条蛇

It rose out of the basket and began to follow the movements of the pipe. 它从篮子里探出身子，跟着管子的节奏扭动

We were very much surprised when the snake charmer suddenly began 我们正看得目瞪口呆，那耍蛇的突然

to play jazz and modern pop songs. 吹起了爵士乐和流行歌曲

The snake, however, 可那条蛇呢

continued to dance slowly. 还是慢悠悠地跳着舞

It obviously could not tell the difference between Indian music and jazz. 它显然分不清印度音乐和爵士乐有啥区别
