was presented to the United States of America in the 19th century by the people of France. 是19世纪法国人民赠送给美国的。
The great statue, 这座巨大的雕像
which was designed by the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, 由雕塑家Auguste Bartholdi设计,
took ten years to complete. 花了十年时间才完成。
The actual figure was made of copper, 雕像本身是用铜做的,
supported by a metal framework which had been especially constructed by Eiffel. 由Eiffel特别建造的金属框架支撑。
Before it could be transported to the United States, 在运往美国之前,
