The hardest part of learning something isn't the beginning. 学东西最难的其实不是刚开始，

It's the plateau in the middle. 而是中途遇到的瓶颈期。

When I started learning the guitar, the early progress was thrilling. 我刚开始学吉他那会儿，那种飞速进步的感觉特别让人兴奋。

Every week I could do something new. 每周我都能学会点新东西。

But after a few months, it just stopped. 但过了几个月，这种进步突然就停滞了。

I practiced the same amount, and I sounded exactly the same. 我练习的时间一点没少，但弹出来的水平听着还是老样子。

It felt like I'd hit an invisible wall, 感觉就像撞上了一堵看不见的墙，

and honestly, that's when most people quit. 说实话，大多数人都是在这个时候放弃的。

I almost did. 我当时也差点放弃了。

But someone told me that a plateau isn't you failing. 不过有人告诉我，遇到瓶颈并不代表你失败了。

It's your brain quietly locking in everything you've already learned 其实是大脑在悄悄巩固你学过的所有东西，

before it lets you move up. 然后再放你往更高处走。

The progress is still happening, just underground where you can't see it. 进步其实一直在发生，只是藏在地底下，你暂时看不见罢了。

So now, when it feels like nothing is improving, 所以现在，每当我感觉自己毫无长进时，

I try to trust that something still is. 我都会试着去相信，改变其实仍在悄然发生。
