More than a thousand years ago, England had a king named Alfred. 一千多年前，英格兰有个国王叫阿尔弗雷德。

His country was at war with the Danes. 当时他的国家正和丹麦人打仗。

After one terrible battle, his army was broken, 在经历了一场惨烈的恶战后，他的军队被打溃了，

and Alfred had to run for his life, alone. 阿尔弗雷德只能孤身一人仓皇逃命。
