In the East, there was a king who loved stories. 从前在东方，有个国王特别喜欢听故事。

His only complaint was that they always ended. 他唯一不满的就是故事总有讲完的时候。

So he made an offer. 于是他宣布：

"Tell me a story that lasts forever, “谁能给我讲一个永远讲不完的故事，

and you can marry my daughter and be king after me. 就能娶我的女儿，以后接替我做国王。

But if your story ends, you lose your head." 但如果故事讲完了，你就得掉脑袋。”

Then a stranger arrived. 后来，来了一个陌生人。

"I have a story about locusts," he said. 他说：“我有个关于蝗虫的故事。”

"Once, a king stored all his corn in a huge building. “从前，有个国王把所有的粮食都存在了一座巨大的仓库里。

But there was one tiny hole in the wall, 但墙上有一个小洞，

just big enough for one locust. 刚好只能容下一只蝗虫通过。

So one locust went in and carried away one grain of corn. 于是一只蝗虫钻了进去，搬走了一粒粮食。

Then another locust went in and carried away another grain of corn. 接着又一只蝗虫钻了进去，搬走了另一粒粮食。

Then another locust went in..." 然后又有一只蝗虫钻了进去……”

He went on for a month. 他就这么讲了一个月。

Then a year. 然后讲了一年。

After two years, the king screamed. 两年后，国王终于崩溃大叫：

"Enough! “够了！

Take my daughter! 女儿归你了！

Take my kingdom! 王位也归你了！

Just never say the word locust again!" 只要你别再提‘蝗虫’这两个字就行！”
