Early one morning, 一天大清早，
a fox saw a rooster sitting high up in a tree. 一只狐狸看到一只公鸡高高地站在树上。
"Good news, my friend!" “好消息啊，朋友！”
he called. 他大声喊道。
"Have you heard? “你听说了吗？
The king has declared peace among all animals. 国王已经宣布，所有动物和平相处。
From today, nobody is allowed to hurt anybody else. 从今天起，谁也不准再伤害谁了。
Come down, and let me give you a hug to celebrate." 快下来，让我抱抱你庆祝一下！”
"That is wonderful news," said the rooster. “那可真是个天大的好消息，”公鸡说。
But he was looking past the fox, at something far away. 但他越过狐狸，望向了远方。
"What are you looking at?" “你在看什么呢？”
asked the fox. 狐狸问。
"Oh, it's just the farmer's dog, running this way. “哦，就是农夫家那条狗，正朝这边跑过来呢。
He must have heard the news too. 他肯定也听说这个消息了。
He probably wants a hug as well." 大概也是想过来抱一个吧。”
The fox was already leaving. 狐狸这会儿已经拔腿要溜了。
"Where are you going? “你这是要去哪儿啊？
I thought we were all friends now." 我还以为大家现在都是朋友了呢。”
"We are," called the fox over his shoulder. “是朋友啊，”狐狸扭过头喊道，
"But I'm not sure the dog has heard about it yet." “但我可不敢保准那条狗也听说了这事儿。”
The best way to catch a liar is to pretend that you believe him. 对付骗子最好的办法，就是假装信了他的鬼话。
