A rich old man loved his gold more than anything.
He didn't spend it.
He buried it under a tree in his garden.
Every week, he went out, dug it up,
counted it, and buried it again.
One night, a thief watched him do it.
The next morning, the gold was gone.
The old man cried so loudly that his neighbor came running.
"Someone stole all my gold!"
"That's awful," said the neighbor.
"What were you going to buy with it?"
"Buy?
Nothing!
I never spent any of it.
I only looked at it."
The neighbor picked up a stone and dropped it in the hole.
"Then look at this instead," he said.
"It will do exactly the same job."
Money you never use is no better than a stone in the ground.
