A big oak tree stood beside a river. 河边立着一棵大橡树。
Next to it grew some thin green reeds. 它旁边长着一些细细的青芦苇。
"Look at you," said the oak. “瞧瞧你,”橡树说,
"You bend every time the wind blows. “风一吹你就弯下腰。”
Look at me. “再瞧瞧我。”
I never bend for anyone." “我可从不向任何人低头。”
"We're fine," said the reeds. “我们挺好的,”芦苇说,
"We may not be strong, but we know how to stay safe." “我们可能不够结实,但我们知道怎么保护自己。”
That night, a terrible storm came. 那天晚上,刮起了一场可怕的风暴。
The wind screamed across the fields. 狂风呼啸着席卷田野。
The oak stood tall and fought it with all its strength. 大橡树挺拔地站着,拼尽全力去硬扛。
The reeds simply lowered their heads and let the wind pass over them. 芦苇只是顺势低下头,任由大风从头顶吹过。
In the morning, the great oak was lying on the ground, 到了早上,那棵大橡树倒在了地上,
