A thin, hungry wolf met a well-fed dog on the road one night. 一天晚上，一只又瘦又饿的狼在路上遇到了一只吃得饱饱的狗。

"You look terrible, cousin," said the dog. “老兄，你看起来气色真差，”狗说。

"Why not come and work with me? “干嘛不跟我一起干呢？

You guard the house, you get three meals a day, 你看家护院，一天三顿管饱，

and you sleep by the fire." 还能睡在火炉边。”

"That sounds wonderful," said the wolf. “听起来真不错，”狼说。

"Lead the way." “带路吧。”

As they walked, 他们走着走着，

the wolf noticed a strange mark on the dog's neck, 狼注意到狗脖子上有一块奇怪的痕迹，

where the fur was rubbed away. 那里的毛都被磨光了。

"What happened there?" “你脖子那是怎么搞的？”

"Oh, that's nothing. “嗨，没什么大不了的。

The wolf stopped. 狼停下了脚步。

"Chain you up? “把你拴起来？

So you can't go wherever you want?" 这么说你不能想去哪就去哪了？”

"Well, not exactly. “呃，倒也没那么自由。

But the food is great." 不过伙食可好得很。”

"Goodnight, cousin," said the wolf, turning back to the forest. “再见吧老兄，”狼说完，转身朝森林走去。

"I'd rather be hungry and free than fat and on a chain." “我宁可自由自在地挨饿，也不想被链子拴着发福。”
