A mother crab and her son were walking along the beach. 螃蟹妈妈和儿子在海滩上散步。

"Why do you walk like that?" “你怎么那样走路啊?”

she said. 她说。

"Always sideways! “老是横着走!

It looks terrible. 真难看。

Walk straight, like a good boy." 乖,直着走。”

"I'd love to, Mom," said the young crab. “我也想啊,妈妈,”小螃蟹说。

"But I'm not sure how. “可我不知道该怎么走。

Can you show me?" 你能示范给我看看吗?”

"Of course. “当然可以。

Watch and learn," she said. 看好了,学着点,”她说。

She tried to walk straight ahead. 她试着笔直往前走。

She went sideways to the left. 却横着挪到了左边。

She tried again. 她又试了一次。

She went sideways to the right. 却横着挪到了右边。

She tried one more time and fell over on her back. 她又试了一次,结果四脚朝天摔倒了。

The young crab didn't laugh. 小螃蟹没有笑。

Well, maybe a little. 好吧,也许偷笑了一下。

"It's okay, Mom," he said. “没事的,妈妈,”他说。

"I think I'll just walk the way you do." “我觉得我还是像你那样走吧。”

Children don't do what you tell them. 孩子不会照你说的去做,

They do what they see you do. 他们只会照你做的去做。
