One hot afternoon, a dog was looking for a place to sleep. 一个炎热的下午，一只狗想找个地方睡觉。

He found a box full of soft hay in the barn, 它在谷仓里发现了一个装满软干草的木箱，

jumped in, and fell asleep. 就跳了进去，倒头大睡。

This was the box where the cows came to eat. 但这其实是牛平时吃草的地方。

In the evening, 到了傍晚，

a cow came back from the fields, tired and hungry. 一头牛又累又饿地从田里回来了。

She walked over to eat some hay. 它走过去想吃点干草。

The dog woke up, angry. 狗被吵醒了，气得不行。

He barked and showed his teeth, 它冲着牛狂吠，龇牙咧嘴，

and every time she came close, he tried to bite her. 每次牛一靠近，它就扑上去想咬。

At last, the cow gave up. 最后，牛只好放弃了。

"What a strange animal," she said as she walked away. “真是个奇怪的家伙，”牛一边走开一边嘀咕道。

"He can't eat hay himself, “它自己明明不吃干草，

but he won't let anyone else have it." 却偏偏不让别人吃。”

Some people don't need a thing at all. 有些人自己根本用不着某样东西，

They just don't want you to have it. 却单纯只是不想让你得到它。
