Being funny in a second language is the hardest thing. 用第二语言开玩笑是最难的事。

In my own language, I'm quick. 要是用母语，我反应可快了。

I make people laugh. 我总能把大家逗笑。

In English, for years, I was just polite. 但换成英语，很多年里，我都只是显得很有礼貌。

That wasn't me. 那根本不是真实的我。

Last week at lunch, a coworker was complaining about the office coffee. 上周吃午饭的时候，一个同事在吐槽办公室的咖啡。

And a joke arrived in my head, in English, already finished. 我脑子里突然冒出了一个笑话，是用英语想的，而且是句现成的整话。

I had half a second to decide. 我只有半秒钟的犹豫时间。
