When I was packing to move, 搬家收拾东西的时候，

I found a cassette tape at the bottom of a box. 我在箱子底下翻到了一盘磁带。

The label was in my own handwriting, from when I was thirteen. 上面的标签是我十三岁时自己手写的，

It said: "MY FAVORITE SONGS." 写着：“我最喜欢的歌”。

All capitals. 全是大写字母。

Very serious. 看着特严肃。

I made that tape from the radio. 那盘磁带是我从收音机里录的。

I sat for hours with one finger on the record button, waiting. 那时候我连着几个小时把手指搭在录音键上，就这么干等着。

Sometimes the DJ talked over the beginning, and I was furious. 有时候电台DJ会在开头说话，我就会气得要命。

I wanted to play it. 我挺想放来听听的。

But we don't own a tape player anymore. 可我们家早就没有磁带机了。

Nobody does. 现在谁家里还有啊。

So I just held it. 所以我就只是拿在手里。

And then something funny happened. 然后神奇的事情发生了。

I could hear it anyway. 我脑子里居然响起了那些声音。

The first song. 第一首歌。

The little click. 那声轻微的“咔嗒”声。

The second song, which starts too late 还有第二首歌，开头录晚了一点，

because I pressed the button slowly. 因为我当时按键按慢了。

I knew the whole order, side A and side B. 整盘磁带的顺序我都记得，A面和B面全都记得。

I packed the tape in the new box. 我把磁带装进了新箱子里。

I don't need a machine. 我根本不需要什么播放机。

It still plays. 它还在我心里放着呢。
