For three years, I've watched TV in English with the subtitles on. 整整三年，我看英语剧都得开着字幕。
I read the show more than I watch it. 与其说是在看剧，不如说是在读剧。
Last night, I was watching a detective series, 昨晚我在看一部侦探剧，
a little tired, eating noodles. 人有点累，正吸溜着面条。
The detective walked into the room and said something to her partner. 女侦探走进房间，对她的搭档说了句什么。
And I laughed. 我跟着笑了。
Then I stopped, chopsticks in the air. 突然我愣住了，筷子还悬在半空。
Wait. 等等。
I hadn't read anything. 我刚才根本没看字幕。
I was looking at her face. 我是一直盯着她的脸看的。
I went back ten seconds and played it again, 我倒回去十秒，重新放了一遍，
with my hand over the subtitles. 这次用手把字幕捂住了。
"You look terrible. “你气色真差。
Did you sleep in the car again?" 又在车里睡的？”
I understood all of it. 我全听懂了。
Every word, at full speed. 一字不落，还是正常语速。
It's one sentence. 虽然只有这么一句。
The next one was too fast, and I needed the subtitles again. 下一句又太快了，我又得靠字幕了。
But three years ago, I couldn't have caught a single word. 但要是放在三年前，我一个词都抓不住。
Nobody claps for this. 这种小事不会有人为你鼓掌。
So I did. 所以我自己给自己鼓了掌。
