I write my to-do list on paper. 我的待办清单都是写在纸上的。

My coworkers think it's funny. 同事们都觉得我这样挺好笑的。

This morning there were eleven things on it. 今天早上,上面写了十一件事。

Some small: call the dentist. 有些很小的事,比如给牙医打电话。

Some terrible: finish the report I've avoided for a week. 有些特别让人头疼,比如把拖了一周的报告写完。

All day, I worked down the page. 一整天,我都顺着那页纸一件件做下来。

Every time I finished something, I drew a line through it. 每搞定一件事,我就在上面划掉一笔。

Not a tick. 不是打勾。

A line, straight through the middle, slow and firm. 而是一条横线,直接从正中间划过去,划得又慢又有力。

You can't get that feeling from an app. 这种感觉,用软件是体会不到的。

You tap the screen and the task just disappears, 你点一下屏幕,任务就直接消失了,

like it never existed. 就好像它从来没存在过一样。

I want to see what I've done. 我想亲眼看见自己都完成了些什么。

At 5:40, I crossed out number eleven. 到了五点四十,我划掉了第十一项。

I should have thrown the paper away. 我本该把那张纸给扔了的。

Instead I held it for a few seconds and just looked. 但我没有,而是拿在手里,盯着看了好一会儿。

Tomorrow there'll be a new list. 明天还会有新的清单。

Tonight, this one is finished, and so am I. 但今晚,这一张算是彻底做完了,我也终于收工了。
