In April, I planted one tomato 四月份的时候，我种了一株番茄

plant in a pot on my balcony. 种在阳台的花盆里。

I live on the ninth floor. 我住在九楼。

I watered it every morning. 我每天早上都给它浇水。

I turned the pot so that all sides got sun. 我还经常转动花盆，好让每一面都能晒到太阳。

In June, there were yellow flowers. 到了六月，它开出了黄色的小花。

In July, tiny green balls. 七月的时候，结出了绿色的小圆球。

By the end of summer, I had my harvest. 夏天快结束时，我迎来了收获。

Five tomatoes. 五个番茄。

Five. 整整五个。

Small ones, the size of large marbles. 个头很小，就跟大号弹珠差不多大。

I could buy a whole box at the supermarket for two dollars. 在超市里，花两块钱就能买到满满一盒。

I picked them and put them on a white plate. 我把它们摘下来，放在一个白盘子里。

I ate the first one slowly, standing on the balcony. 我站在阳台上，慢慢吃掉了第一个。

It was warm from the sun. 它被太阳晒得暖洋洋的。

It was sweet, and a little sour, and it tasted like something. 味道酸酸甜甜的，而且很有风味。

I ate one a day, to make them last. 我一天只吃一个，想吃得久一点。

They cost me a summer. 它们花了我整整一个夏天。

They were worth it. 但真的很值。

I knew every one of them by name. 我甚至能叫出它们每一个的名字。
