Queen Gertrude had summoned Hamlet to her room, 葛楚德王后把哈姆雷特叫到了她的房间，

and Polonius hid behind a tapestry to listen. 波洛涅斯则躲在挂毯后面偷听。

Hamlet stormed in, 哈姆雷特气冲冲地闯了进来，

and spoke so fiercely that his mother cried out in fear. 言辞极其凶狠，吓得母亲失声尖叫。

"Help!" “救命啊！”

From behind the tapestry came another voice: "Help!" 挂毯后面也立刻传出另一个声音：“救命！”

Hamlet drew his sword and stabbed straight through the cloth. 哈姆雷特拔出宝剑，径直朝挂毯刺了过去。

"Is it the king?" “是国王吗？”

But when he pulled it aside, there lay old Polonius, dead. 可当他掀开挂毯，老波洛涅斯已经断气倒在那里了。

"Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool." “你这个该死、鲁莽又爱多管闲事的蠢货。”

Then Hamlet turned back to his mother, 随后哈姆雷特转过身面对母亲，

Gertrude wept. 葛楚德哭了起来。
