On his way to school, 在去上学的路上，

a boy spotted a wallet lying on the pavement. 一个小男孩看到人行道上躺着一个钱包。

He picked it up and looked inside — 他捡起来往里一瞧——

more money than he had ever held in his life. 里面的钱比他这辈子拿过的都要多。

For a moment, his heart raced with everything he could buy. 有一瞬间，想到能买的所有好东西，他的心跳直加速。

No one had seen him. 没有人看见他。

No one would ever know. 也永远不会有人知道。

But he also knew that somewhere, 但他心里也清楚，在某个地方，

someone was probably searching for it, sick with worry. 肯定有人正急得焦头烂额地到处找它。

So instead of pocketing it, he checked for a name, 所以他没有把钱包揣进自己兜里，而是翻看失主的名字，

and spent his whole lunch break tracking down the owner — 花掉了整个午休时间去寻找失主——

an old man who nearly cried with relief. 那是一位老爷爷，如释重负得差点掉下眼泪。

The man tried to give him a reward, 老人想给他一笔酬谢，

but the boy shook his head. 但男孩摇了摇头。

"It wasn't mine," he said simply. 他只是平淡地说了句：“这不是我的东西。”

He walked to school with an empty stomach and a light heart. 他饿着肚子走回学校，心里却格外轻松。
