A little boy was playing in the hills one afternoon when he shouted, 一天下午，有个小男孩在山丘上玩，他突然喊了一声，

just for fun, "Hello!" 纯粹是为了好玩：“你好！”

To his surprise, a voice shouted back, "Hello!" 让他没想到的是，居然有个声音也回喊道：“你好！”

Annoyed, he yelled, "Who are you?" 他有点恼火，大声嚷道：“你是谁？”

The voice yelled the same words right back at him. 那个声音也原封不动地冲他回喊了同样的话。

Now he was angry. 这下他真生气了。

"Coward!" “胆小鬼！”

he shouted. 他大声喊道。

"Coward!" “胆小鬼！”

came the reply. 那边传来了同样的回应。

He ran home upset and told his mother that someone in the hills was mocking him. 他气呼呼地跑回家，告诉妈妈山里有人在嘲笑他。

She smiled and said, "Go back and try saying something kind." 妈妈微笑着说：“你再回去，试着说点好听的话。”

So he did. 于是他就照做了。

"You're wonderful!" “你真棒！”

he called — and the hills called back, "You're wonderful!" 他高声喊道——山谷也同样回应道：“你真棒！”

His mother nodded. 妈妈点了点头。

"That's not a rude boy in the hills," she said. 她说：“山里并没有什么没礼貌的男孩，”

"That's an echo. “那是回声。”

And life is a lot like that. “生活其实也是这样。”

Whatever you send out — anger or kindness — “无论你传递出去的是什么——不管是愤怒还是善意——”

tends to come right back to you." “最后往往都会原样回到你身上。”

He never forgot it. 他永远记住了这个道理。

The world has a way of echoing what you give it. 你给予这个世界什么，世界就会如数回馈你什么。
