Two boys worked at the same shop after school. 有两个男孩放学后在同一家店里打工。

Charlie was clever but careless — he'd cut corners, show up late, 查理很聪明，但做事马虎——他总爱偷工减料、迟到，

and leave jobs half-done, always with a good excuse ready. 活儿总是只干一半，而且随时都能找出像样的借口。
