With a crowd of courtiers, including the two officials, 带着一群随从大臣，还有那两位官员，

the Emperor went to see the cloth. 皇帝亲自去看那块布料。

The swindlers were weaving with all their might, 那两个骗子正拼命地织着，

though there wasn't a single thread on their looms. 尽管织布机上一根线都没有。

"Isn't it magnificent, Your Majesty?" “陛下，这不是很华丽吗？”

said the two officials, pointing at the empty looms. 那两位大臣指着空荡荡的织布机说道，

"What's this?" “这是怎么回事？”

thought the Emperor. 皇帝心里直犯嘀咕，

"I can't see anything! “我怎么什么都看不见！

Am I stupid? 难道我是个蠢材？

Am I unfit to be Emperor? 还是说我不配当皇帝？

That would be the worst thing in the world." 这可真是全天下最糟糕的事了。”

"Oh, it's very beautiful," he said out loud. “噢，真是太美了，”他大声说道，

"It has my highest approval." “我非常满意。”

And he nodded at the empty loom. 他还对着空空的织布机连连点头。

Nothing traps us like a lie we've told in front of others. 没有什么比当众撒谎更能把人套牢的了。

The whole court nodded too, 满朝大臣也纷纷跟着点头，

and urged him to wear the new clothes in the great procession, 还极力劝他穿上这身新衣服去参加游行大典，

just days away. 而那场大典就在几天之后了。
