So the Emperor marched along under his splendid canopy. 就这样，皇帝在华丽的华盖下大步向前走着。

And everyone in the streets and at the windows cried out, 街上和窗边的人们都纷纷喊道：

"Oh, how beautiful the Emperor's new clothes are! “天哪，皇帝的新衣服真漂亮！”

What a gorgeous train! “这拖尾可真华丽啊！”

How perfectly they fit!" “穿在身上简直太合身了！”

Nobody would admit they couldn't see anything, 谁也不肯承认自己其实什么都没看见，

because that would mean they were unfit for their jobs, 因为那就等于承认自己不称职，

or very stupid. 要么就是太蠢了。

Neighbors glanced at neighbors. 街坊邻居你看看我，我看看你。

Parents lifted their children up to see. 当爹妈的把孩子高高举起，好让他们瞧瞧。

And everyone kept cheering, louder and louder, because everyone else was cheering. 大家的欢呼声越来越大，越喊越起劲，只因为其他人也都在欢呼。

None of the Emperor's clothes had ever been such a success. 皇帝的衣服还从没哪一件像这次这么受欢迎过。

A lie repeated by a whole crowd starts to sound like the truth. 当所有人都在重复同一个谎言时，听着就真像那么回事了。

The Emperor lifted his chin higher and walked on, proud and slow. 皇帝把下巴昂得更高了，迈着又慢又神气的步子继续往前走。

Then, from somewhere in the crowd, a small voice spoke up. 这时，人群不知哪个角落里传出了一个小小的声音。
