During a battle, a young trumpeter got too close to the enemy,
and he was captured.
The soldiers were about to kill him when he begged for his life.
"Please, wait!
I'm not a fighter.
I've never hurt anyone.
Look, I don't even carry a sword.
All I have is this trumpet.
Why would you kill a harmless musician?"
The enemy captain shook his head.
"That's exactly why," he said.
"You don't fight, it's true.
But every time you blow that trumpet,
hundreds of men pick up their weapons and attack us.
Without you, they would stay in their tents.
You may have clean hands,
but you're more dangerous than any single soldier."
People who push others into a fight are just as responsible,
in the end, as the ones who do the fighting.
Words can be weapons too.
