Two neighbors went to the god Jupiter to ask for a wish. 有两个邻居去找朱庇特神许愿。
One of them was terribly greedy, 其中一个特别贪心，
and the other was eaten up with jealousy. 另一个则嫉妒心极重。
Jupiter decided to teach them both a lesson. 朱庇特决定给他们俩一个教训。
"Each of you may have whatever you ask for," he said. “你们每个人想要什么都可以，”他说，
"But there's one condition. “但有一个条件。
Your neighbor will get twice as much." 你的邻居会得到双倍。”
The greedy man went first. 那个贪心的人先开了口。
He wished for a room full of gold. 他许愿要满满一屋子的黄金。
Instantly, it was his. 眨眼间，金子就到手了。
But his joy disappeared when he saw that his neighbor now had two. 可当他看到邻居居然得到了两屋子时，高兴劲儿瞬间全没了。
Then it was the jealous man's turn. 接着轮到那个嫉妒心重的人了。
He couldn't bear the thought of his neighbor having more of anything good. 他一想到邻居能得到更多好处，就难受得要命。
So he thought for a moment and said, 于是他琢磨了一会儿，说：
"Make me blind in one eye." “让我瞎一只眼吧。”
He lost an eye, just so that his neighbor would lose two. 他宁愿自己瞎一只眼，也非要让邻居双目失明。
Greed and jealousy have one thing in common. 贪婪和嫉妒都有一个共同点。
In the end, they hurt you most of all. 到头来，伤得最深的还是你自己。
