The plant where Raul worked has closed, and Raul has been laid off. 劳尔工作的工厂倒闭了，劳尔被解雇了。

He cannot find work in town 他在镇上找不到工作

that uses his old skills, 能用到他旧技能的工作，

and he does not want to move, 而且他不想搬家，

so he decides to learn something new. 所以他决定学习一些新东西。

He calls Chris at the technical school. 他给技术学校的克里斯打电话。

I need to learn some new skills. 我需要学习一些新技能。

When are your classes? 你们的课什么时候开？

We have them during the day and in the evening, Chris says. 克里斯说，我们白天和晚上都有课。

Losing a job is frightening, 失业是可怕的，
