I changed the sheets this afternoon. 我今天下午换了床单。

It's a job I always put off. 这活儿我总是能拖就拖。

These had dried outside, on the line. 这套是在外面晾衣绳上晒干的。

They were a little stiff, and cool, and they smelled like air. 摸着有点发硬，凉丝丝的，还有股阳光和空气的味道。

Tonight, I got into bed and lay down. 今晚，我钻进被窝躺了下来。

A long breath out, almost a groan, 就是长长地舒了一口气，听着跟呻吟差不多，

The cotton was smooth against my legs. 棉布蹭在腿上滑溜溜的。

The pillow was cool on both sides. 枕头两面都凉爽舒服。

Everything was flat and fresh and exactly where it should be. 哪儿都平平整整、干干净净的，该在哪就在哪。

It's such a small luxury. 这真是种微小却实在的享受。

It costs nothing but ten minutes 除了花个十分钟，

I lay there in the dark, 我就这么躺在黑暗中，

not wanting to fall asleep yet, because then I'd miss it. 甚至舍不得立刻睡着，怕浪费了这份舒服。

Kings have slept in worse beds than this. 哪怕是国王，睡的床也不过如此了吧。
