I've got a call coming up, 我待会儿有个电话要接,
so I grab a notebook and get ready to take notes.
I click my pen open, flip to a fresh page,
and jot the date at the top.
As the meeting goes on, 开会的时候,
I scribble down the key points, underlining anything important.
I make a mistake,
so I run a bit of correction tape over it and write on top — 就拉了点修正带盖住接着写——
old habits die hard.
Afterward, I slit open a couple of envelopes with a letter opener and sort the mail into piles.
There is a real difference between typing and writing by hand; 打字和手写确实感觉大不一样;
somehow the pen makes ideas stick.
I doodle in the margin while I think,
which, oddly, helps me focus.
Notes down, actions circled, pen clicked shut —
I always feel a little more on top of things with it all on paper.
