My desk setup needs a bit of attention before I start. 开始干活前，桌子得先稍微收拾打理一下。

My laptop is almost dead, 笔记本电脑快没电了，

so I plug in the charger and watch the little light turn on. 于是我插上充电器，看着指示灯亮起。

I connect my wireless keyboard and mouse, waiting for each to pair, 接着连上无线键鼠，等它们一个个配对，

and hook up a second monitor with a cable that never quite fits the first time. 再接上副屏，那根连接线每次第一下总插不准。

I slot in a USB drive to back up some files, 插上U盘备份些文件，

dragging them across before I forget. 趁着还没忘，赶紧拖过去。

My phone is low too, 手机电量也见底了，

so I set it on the wireless charger and top up my power bank for later. 顺手扔到无线充上，顺便把充电宝也充上以备后用。

There is always one more thing that needs charging — 总有下一个东西要充电——

it never really ends. 真是没完没了。

But a full battery is a small, quiet kind of freedom; 但电量满格确实有一种小小的、平静的自由感；

you stop worrying and just use the thing. 不用再焦虑，尽管拿去用就是了。

Everything plugged in, everything talking to each other, 该插的都插上了，设备之间都连通了，

all the little lights glowing green — now I can actually start. 所有的小指示灯都泛着绿光——这下终于可以正式开工了。
