Workers are visiting with one another in the break room. 工人们在休息室里互相聊天。

Lina is shy about talking with coworkers. 丽娜和同事说话时有些害羞。

She does not know much English. 她不太懂英语。

Hi, says Val. “你好，”瓦尔说。

My name is Val. “我叫瓦尔。”

What is your name? “你叫什么名字？”

Val points to Lina as she asks. 瓦尔指着丽娜问道。

Lina, says Lina. “丽娜，”丽娜说。

It's nice to meet you, Lina. “很高兴认识你，丽娜。”

I'm new here. “我是新来的。”

How long have you worked here? “你在这里工作多久了？”

asks Val. 瓦尔问道。

Me no English, says Lina. “我英语不好，”丽娜说。

Val tries again. 瓦尔又试了一次。

One week. “一个星期。”

I have worked here one week, she says, pointing to herself. “我在这里工作了一个星期，”她指着自己说。

How long have you worked here? “你在这里工作多久了？”

Lina nods her head to show she understands. 丽娜点头表示她明白了。

She says, one month. 她说，“一个月。”

Val replies, we are both new to the job. 瓦尔回答说：“我们都是新来的。”

They smile. 他们笑了。
