A Frenchman named Charney was locked in prison for something he hadn't done. 有个名叫夏尔尼的法国人，因为一件没做过的事被关进了监狱。
He had no books, no paper, and nobody to talk to. 他没有书看，没有纸写字，也没人可以说话。
Every day, he walked around the stone yard, counting the stones. 每天，他就在石头铺的院子里打转，数着地上的石头。
One spring morning, he noticed something green between two of them. 一个春天的早晨，他注意到两块石头中间有一抹绿意。
A tiny plant was pushing its way up. 原来是一株小小的植物正拼命往上钻。
