On the hill above Atri lived an old knight. 在阿特里镇上方的山丘上，住着一位老骑士。

In his youth, his horse had carried him through many battles. 年轻的时候，他的马曾载着他出生入死，打过许多场仗。

But now he loved only gold. 但现在，他眼里只有金子。

"That horse costs too much to feed," he said. “养这匹马花销太大了，”他说道。

So he turned it out to find its own food. 于是他把马赶了出去，让它自寻出路。

The poor animal wandered the roads, thin and hungry. 可怜的马儿瘦骨嶙峋、饥肠辘辘地在路上游荡。

One hot afternoon, when the streets were empty, 一个炎热的下午，街上空无一人，
