Lesson 14 Do you speak English? 第14课 你会说英语吗？
I had an amusing experience last year. 去年我有一次挺逗的经历。
After I had left a small village in the south of France, 我离开法国南部一个小村子之后，
I drove on to the next town. 就开车往下一个镇子去了。
On the way, 路上，
a young man waved to me. 有个年轻小伙子冲我招手。
I stopped and he asked me for a lift. 我停下来，他问我能不能搭个顺风车。
As soon as he had got into the car, 他一上车，
I said good morning to him in French and he replied in the same language. 我就用法语跟他说早上好，他也用同样的话回我。
Apart from a few words, 除了几个词儿，
I do not know any French at all. 我其实一句法语都不会。
Neither of us spoke during the journey. 一路上我俩谁都没说话。
I had nearly reached the town when the young man suddenly said, very slowly, 快到镇子的时候，那小伙子突然慢悠悠地说：
Do you speak English? 你会说英语吗？
As I soon learned, 我很快就明白了，
he was English himself. 他自己就是个英国人。
