Many places choose symbols to represent themselves — a special bird, a flower, a tree. 许多地方选择用象征来代表自己——比如一种特别的鸟、一朵花或一棵树。

And behind each one is often a surprising little story. 而在每一个象征背后，往往都有一个令人惊讶的小故事。

Take the loon. 就拿潜鸟来说吧。

and a single plant may live for fifty years. 而一株植物可以活五十年。

Then there is the red pine, 接着是红松，
