At eleven o'clock, I made myself a promise. 十一点的时候，我跟自己说好了。

One more chapter. 就再看一章。

Then lights off. 看完就关灯睡觉。

The chapter ended with a knock at the door. 那一章偏偏停在了一阵敲门声上。

Well. 得。

I couldn't leave it there. 这我哪放得下啊。

Just until I find out who it is. 起码得知道敲门的是谁吧。

It was her brother. 居然是她弟弟。

The one everybody thought was dead. 就是大家都以为早就死了的那个。

All right. 行吧。

One more. 再看一章。

I told myself the truth, 我对自己摊牌了，

which was that I was not going to stop, 我根本就没打算停下来，

and that tomorrow I would be tired and I didn't care. 明天累就累吧，我不管了。

The house was silent. 屋子里一片寂静。

The lamp made a small circle on the page. 台灯在书页上打出一小圈光晕。

I was three hundred kilometers away, in another century, 我整个人已经飘到了三百公里外，置身于另一个世纪，

and somebody was about to make a terrible mistake. 而里面有人马上就要犯下大错了。

I finished at two-fifteen. 看完的时候已经是两点十五分了。

I'll be useless at work. 今天上班铁定要废了。

I know. 我知道。

But a book that steals your sleep 但能偷走你睡眠的书，

is the best kind of thief. 才是最棒的“小偷”。

I'd leave the door open for it again. 下次它要来，我还是会给它开着门。
