I found the notebook at the back 我在书架最里头找到了那个笔记本，

of a shelf, behind the cookbooks. 就在那些食谱的后面。

Three years ago, I was writing a story in it. 三年前，我还在上面写着一个故事。

Then my mother got sick, 后来我妈妈病了，

and I changed jobs, and the notebook went quiet. 我也换了工作，那个本子就这么搁下了。

I opened it at the last page, expecting to feel embarrassed. 我翻到最后一页，本以为会觉得难为情。

My handwriting stops in the middle of a sentence. 我的笔迹停在了一句话的中间。

"She opened the door and saw." “她推开门，看到了。”

And then nothing. 然后就什么都没有了。

White paper. 一片空白。

Saw what? 看到了什么？

I don't remember. 我已经不记得了。

For three years, that woman has been standing in a doorway, 整整三年，那个女人就一直站在门口，

with her hand on the handle, waiting for me. 手搭在把手上，等着我。

I always thought you had to start again from the beginning. 我总觉得凡事都得从头再来。

That's why I never went back. 这也是我一直没去动它的原因。

But the sentence was right there, like a held door. 可那个句子就停在那里，像一扇被人特意留着的门。

I picked up a pen and finished it. 我拿起笔，把它写完了。

You don't have to start over. 你其实不用从头再来。

You just have to continue. 你只要接着写下去就好。
