So where is the economy heading? 那经济到底会往哪儿走呢？

It is the question on everyone's mind, 这是大家心里都在想的问题，

and the honest answer is: it depends. 说句实话，答案是：这得看情况。

Most experts expect slow but steady growth over the coming year. 大多数专家预计，未来一年经济会缓慢但平稳地增长。

Falling inflation and a strong job market are reasons for cautious hope. 通胀在降温，就业市场也很坚挺，这些都让人有理由保持谨慎乐观。

But risks remain, 但风险依然还在，

from global tensions to the ever-present danger of rising prices. 不管是全球紧张局势，还是物价随时可能上涨的隐患，都不容忽视。

One leading economist put it well: 一位知名经济学家说得挺在理：

a forecast is less a prediction than an educated guess. 预测算不上什么未卜先知，充其量是有依据的推测罢了。

History is full of confident predictions that turned out to be wrong. 历史上那些信誓旦旦最后却彻底翻车的预测比比皆是。

What matters more than any single number is the direction things are moving. 比起某个具体的数字，更关键的其实是大方向在往哪儿走。

For now, the signs are pointing gently upward. 就眼下来说，种种迹象都在慢慢向好。

Households, though, will believe it only when they feel it in their own pockets. 不过对普通老百姓而言，只有自己钱包真切感受到了，才会真正相信。

And that, in the end, is the number that counts. 说到底，这才是唯一算数的指标。
