In a small workshop at the edge of town, 在镇子边上的一间小作坊里，

one man is keeping a centuries-old craft alive. 有个男人正守着一项传承了数百年的老手艺。

He is one of the last people in the country who still makes traditional shoes entirely by hand. 他是全国仅存的几个还在纯手工做传统鞋子的人之一。

"Machines are faster, but they cannot put love into the work," “机器确实更快，但机器做出来的活儿没有感情，”

he said with a smile. 他笑着说道。

He learned the skill from his father, 他的手艺是跟父亲学的，

who learned it from his own father before him. 而父亲也是跟爷爷学的。

Each pair of shoes can take several days to complete. 做一双鞋往往得花上好几天。

Sadly, few young people are willing to learn the difficult trade. 可惜的是，几乎没有年轻人愿意学这门难做的苦差事了。

Worried that the craft may disappear, he has begun offering free classes. 因为担心手艺失传，他开始免费教课。

A handful of students have already signed up, giving him fresh hope. 已经有几个学生报了名，这让他重新燃起了希望。

"As long as someone wants to learn, I will teach," he said. 他说：“只要有人想学，我就教。”
