出门检查

I'm almost out the door when I do my usual last-second check. 刚要迈出门，我又习惯性地做了一下最后的检查。

Phone, keys, wallet — I pat my pockets one by one, 手机、钥匙、钱包——我挨个拍了拍口袋，

the little ritual that has saved me more times than I can count. 这个小习惯不知救了我多少回。

I glance back to make sure I turned off the stove and switched off the lights. 我回头瞅了一眼，确认炉灶和灯都关好了。

I grab my bag, sling it over my shoulder, 抓起包往肩上一甩，

and double-check I've got my transit card and my headphones. 再确认一下交通卡和耳机带了没。

Then I step outside, pull the door shut behind me, 接着我走出门，顺手把门带上，

and give it a push to make sure it is locked. 又推了推，确认门确实锁好了。

Halfway down the path I get that nagging feeling I've forgotten something — 走到半路，心里又犯起嘀咕，老觉得落了什么东西——

but no, I've got it all this time. 不过没有，这次我全带齐了。

Funny how a ten-second check saves a whole day of hassle. 真挺神奇的，就花十秒钟检查一下，就能省掉一整天的麻烦。

Keys jingling in my hand, 手里的钥匙晃得叮当作响，

I set off, and the day officially begins. 我迈步出发，这一天就算正式开始了。
