云散开的那个清晨

We started climbing at four in the morning, 我们凌晨四点就出发爬山了，

in the dark, with lights on our heads. 摸着黑，头上戴着头灯。

Every ten steps, I had to stop and breathe. 每走十来步，我就得停下来喘口气。

When we reached the top, there was nothing to see. 等到登顶的时候，眼前却什么也看不见。

Cloud, everywhere. 到处都是云雾。

Somewhere inside it was a city, five hundred years old, 云雾深处的某个地方藏着一座五百年前的古城，

and we couldn't see a single stone. 可我们连一块石头都瞧不见。

People sat down on the wet grass. 大家纷纷坐在湿漉漉的草地上。

Then, around six, the cloud began to move. 大概到了六点左右，云雾开始散了。

A corner lifted. 雾气被掀开了一角。

I saw one wall. 我看见了一堵墙。

Then a doorway. 接着是一道门。

Then stairs, going down the mountain in long green steps. 然后是台阶，顺着山势延伸下去，宛如长长的绿色阶梯。

And then the sun came over the ridge, 紧接着，太阳翻过了山脊，

and the whole city was there, 整座古城就这么展现在眼前，

gold, with the cloud pouring off it like water. 金光闪闪，云雾像流水一样从城上倾泻而下。

Five hundred years ago, 五百年前，

a person stood on this stone and watched this same sun arrive. 也曾有人站在这块石头上，看着同一轮红日升起。

For a moment, there was no time between us at all. 那一瞬间，时间仿佛彻底消失了，我们近在咫尺。
