in fair Verona, where we lay our scene." 故事就发生在美丽的维罗纳。”

For generations, the Montagues and the Capulets had hated each other. 世世代代以来，蒙太古家和凯普莱特家都视彼此为仇敌。

No one even remembered why. 甚至没人记得究竟是为了什么结下的梁子。

One hot morning, their servants began insulting each other in the marketplace, 一个闷热的早晨，两家的仆人在集市上互相破口大骂，

and within minutes, swords were out. 没过几分钟，双方就拔剑相向了。

Young Tybalt, a Capulet with a fiery temper, joined the fight. 凯普莱特家那个脾气火爆的年轻人提伯尔特，也冲上来动了手。

"Peace? “讲和？

I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee!" 我最恶心这两个字，就像我恶心地狱、所有的蒙太古人，还有你一样！”

Soon, half the city was brawling. 很快，大半个城的人都打成了一团。

At last, the Prince of Verona rode in, furious. 终于，维罗纳亲王骑着马怒不可遏地赶到了。

"If ever you disturb our streets again, “要是你们再敢在街头寻衅滋事，

your lives shall pay the price." 就拿你们的命来偿！”

Old hatreds rarely need a reason; they only need an excuse. 陈年宿怨往往不需要什么理由，只需要一个借口。
