I finally get a quiet hour to sit down with a book.
I settle into my chair, crack the spine open,
and flip to where I left off, 翻到上次读到的地方,
the corner still folded down as a bookmark.
As I read, I underline a line that hits me,
and grab a highlighter to mark a passage worth coming back to.
When an idea pops up, 脑子里要是冒出什么想法,
I jot it on a sticky note and stick it in the margin.
My pencil goes blunt,
so I sharpen it with a few quick turns and blow off the shavings.
There's something about paper that a screen can't give you — 纸质书那种感觉,真是屏幕怎么都给不了的——
the weight of the book, the quiet turn of a page.
I lose all track of time, look up,
and realize an hour has slipped by.
I dog-ear the page, close the book,
and sit with the story for a moment longer.
