Alice was starting to feel very tired. 爱丽丝开始感到非常疲倦。

She was sitting by her sister on the riverbank with nothing to do. 她和姐姐坐在河岸边，无所事事。

Her sister was reading a book, but it had no pictures and no talking in it. 她的姐姐正在看书，但书里没有图画，也没有对话。

What is the use of a book, thought Alice, with no pictures or talking? 爱丽丝心想，一本没有图画或对话的书有什么用呢？

Suddenly, a white rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. 突然，一只粉红色眼睛的白兔从她身边跑过。

That was not very strange. 这并没有什么特别奇怪的。

Alice did not even think it was odd when the rabbit said to itself, Oh dear, 当兔子自言自语地说“哎呀，”的时候，爱丽丝甚至不觉得奇怪，

I shall be late. 我要迟到了。”

But then the rabbit took a watch out of its pocket. 但接着，那只兔子从口袋里掏出了一块表。

Alice jumped to her feet. 爱丽丝跳了起来。

She saw it pop down a large rabbit hole under the hedge. 她看到它钻进树篱下的大兔洞里。
