There's one thing I can do really well. 有一件事我特别拿手。

I can fold dumplings. 我特别会包饺子。

Last weekend, my neighbor's daughter came over. 上周末，邻居家的小姑娘来我家串门。

She's eight, and she wanted to learn. 她今年八岁，想跟我学包饺子。

I showed her slowly. 我就放慢动作教她。

Fold, and pinch, pinch, pinch. 对折，然后捏、捏、捏。

Hers looked like a small accident. 她包出来的那个，简直像个小车祸现场。

The filling came out the side. 馅儿都从旁边冒出来了。

It couldn't stand up. 根本立不住。

She looked at it with pure love. 但她看着那个饺子，眼里全是喜欢。

She made twenty more, each a little better. 接着她又包了二十个，一个比一个好。

By the end, one of them almost stood. 到最后，居然有一个差不多能立起来了。

When it was time to cook, 要下锅煮的时候，

she put her hand over the first one. 她一把护住了第一个饺子。

"Not this one. “这个不煮。

I'm keeping it." 我要留着。”

"You can't keep a dumpling." “饺子哪能留着啊。”

"I'm keeping it." “我就要留着。”

She took it home in a paper cup. 最后她用个纸杯把它装回了家。

I thought I was teaching her how to fold. 我本来以为我只是在教她包饺子。

But I knew that face. 但看到她那个表情，我懂了。

I was passing on the feeling. 我传给她的，其实是那种感觉。
